Just like any other electrical device such as a cell phone, iPhone, or iPod, the battery of an iPad will last a shorter time during heavy use. This article is here to help you make most of your iPad by increasing its battery life.

1. Reduce the brightness of the iPad screen. Obviously, the brighter your screen is the more battery it consumes! Reduce the brightness to a level that isn't too bright or too dark - just about right. This can be done by going to "Settings" and then "Brightness & Wallpaper". Now, drag the slider to the left in order to lower the screen brighness. I suggest 20-35 percent brightness should be sufficient for daytime use.

2. Turn the Wi-Fi and cellular data settings OFF. Your iPad battery drains quite drastically when the Wi-Fi is switched on. Therefore, if you are not planning on using Safari/internet or apps that require an internet connection then turn them off.

3. Turn off the sound effects. Sounds can cause your iPad battery to drain quickly if they are used frequently. Because they are activated by default, they sound whenever notifcations are received or when pressing buttons for the on-screen keyboard. What you need to do to turn off the sound effects in order to make your iPad bettery last longer is to go to "Settings" > "General" > "Sounds". The equalizer has five different options to "Increase/Decrease". You may also switch to "On/Off" if that is what you prefer. By disabling the lot, obviously, you will decrease battery usage by sounds.

4. Use it less often! This may sound a bit obvious, but, it is a valid point to make. Some of you out there are on your iPad 24/7 listening to music and watching videos... This will not help your battery. The more you use it, the more battery will be consumed. Therefore, if you try to cut the time you spend on your iPad by, maybe, 15-20 percent then your iPad battery will last longer.

If you don't know what i'm talking about then just watch this....

That looks pretty cool, i just hope our generation is still on this planet when that comes out. IF... that comes out. Some of the functions seen in the video look impossible... !

Even if this finally comes out, i don't think it will be any cheaper than... oh, i don't know... let's say
£20,000? But as you can see from the video it will probably be worth the money :)

The manufacturer believes that some of the device's imagined features could appear in high-end devices by 2015. However, i really do doubt that we humans can make something as complex as that... It seems impossible... Doesn't it? The amount of technology that has to go in one of those... I'm not so sure.

WisePenguin,

The Iphone is a fairly easy-to-use device so odds are that you haven't even looked at the manual yet. But there are a number of small features that might be of interest to you. Here they are.

1. Scroll to Top

By tapping the status bar (bar at the top with the clock) you will scroll to the top of the content, IF the content is scrollable. This feature can come very handy when you have scrolled down a long web page and want to get back to the top but you are too lazy to scroll back up. Just tap the damn bar :p

2. Calculator Scientific Mode

This is the most complicated method of all time, probably. What you do first is open you calculator app. Hold your Iphone in landscape mode (90°). There is you scientific calculator :)

3. Screenshots

Press the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time and your Iphone will take a screenshot of your current screen. A camera shutter sound will be heard, the screen will flash white, and the screenshot will save in the "Saved Photos" library in the Photos app.

4. Fast Forward/Rewind Music and Video

Press + Hold the skip forward/back arrows to fast forward or rewind instead of skipping tracks. Also, you can press on the album art to manually Fast Forward or Rewind.

More to come...
